We love the new exhibition at The Portman Gallery, one of our esteemed clients. ‘The Rest is Silence’ features the works of American photographer Matt Lambros in this highly topical UK premiere exhibition.

Matt’s extraordinary photographs tell the stories of decaying theatres from across the US. ‘The Rest is Silence’ presents 12 of his Abandoned collection, each showing how these buildings of cultural importance can fade before our eyes when the Arts loses support within a society.

“I’ve spent ten years composing photographic obituaries for once-thriving buildings that are now crumbled and forgotten. My hope for my work is that it will shine light on beautiful, dated architecture and on the equal yet sinister beauty in decay” – Matt Lambros

Matt’s work must remind us, the patrons, why supporting theatres and galleries in our cultural landscape is of the utmost importance.

Look what will happen if we don’t…

The Rest is Silence runs online at The Portman Gallery throughout December.

‘Tis the season for Christmas cards. Here at Jalloro, we’ve gone all giddy for everything Christmas… all except for our grinch-y web developer, that is.

There were so many hopeful designs that longed to send a big “HAPPY CHRISTMAS!” to all on the mailing list, but in the end the winner was clear -  eat, drink, and be merry. Our favourite design was printed in 3 variatons (and also adapted into a gif for the homepage).

Opening the box that arrived on Friday morning from the printers was like a mini Christmas in itself.

Possibly the most charming printer ever conceived.  Not only does it create a pocket sized newspaper of the things that you are most interested in, but has a smile on it’s face while it’s doing it. There have admittedly been printers in the past that I have found truly drool-worthy (a wide-format Epson beauty) but none that have made me want to give it a hug.

A lot  of our work consists of bringing clients who are more analogue- based up to speed with today’s technology- getting them set up with websites, blogs, and apps, etc.  We love technology, and this little printer is a beautiful marriage of the digital age with the nostalgic.

We are looking for brilliant, creative and motivated iOS Developers to come on board to help us create a host of iPad and iPhone Apps..

More details will follow at interview upon signing an NDA, but this is a phenomenal opportunity to work in a successful studio for some very well known individuals and brands to create between 10 – 20 iOS products in the next year alone. You must be an Arts lover, a devotee of App development, punctual verging on early, generous in thought and word and you must have a sense of humour – we are going to be working insanely hard, if you can’t laugh, we will be in trouble!

If you would like to put your name forward, please send an email to James Robinson (james@jalloro.com) with your portfolio attached.

The Jalloro team had a meeting with the brilliant British artist, James Hart Dyke yesterday. He has some very exciting things in the pipeline. We can’t wait to see his new work over the course of the next year or so.
