Five years ago, as the world began to realise that the internet was not an overnight phenomenon, if someone had told you that in excess of £50bn is expected to change hands online in 2011, and that the high street would begin to look like the set of a Hollywood western, you would have thought them crazy. But it is unfolding on our screens. The world has got the online shopping bug and it seems that now the Arts wants to get involved.
Since January, Jalloro has won six e-commerce jobs and we have launched 2 platforms already:
- one for Damian Delahunty at Mount Street Galleries, www.mountstreetgalleries.com/prints
- another for Annie Summers’ new jewellery range, www.shellbound.co.uk.
while we are currently working on another 4, an online art gallery, More.
The team in our Hammersmith office gets very excited when Thursday arrives. Firstly because it’s Mystery Hour on LBC at midday and secondly because it’s market day and Lyric Square is packed full of traders touting their delicious wares. Today we encountered the Bath Soft Cheese Co. These guys had a pile of smelly-yet-mouth-wateringly-good cheese and we quite liked their sweet branding too.
We bought 250 grams of their soft dairy product and ate it as an afternoon snack in the office. It didn’t last very long. We thoroughly recommend this scrumptious cheese and look forward to their next visit to Lyric Square.
We LOVE getting parcels in the post. Who doesn’t? Our personal favourites are brown paper packages tied up with string.
Earlier this week we received a tiny package from one of our fab printers, Push. Wrapped in brown paper was a cardboard box that opened up into a large matchbox instructing us to, ‘PUSH THE BOAT OUT’. Inside the matchbox was a miniature boat with which we have made this little animation (click More below to view). We’re about to embark (ho ho) on a project with Push to create a beautiful catalogue and are looking forward to working with them. Thanks Push!
We love Christmas, especially the little things like seeing Pret A Manger roll out their festive red cups and the cinematic snow we’ve been having in London. Continue reading to see what else has been getting us in the Christmas spirit.
I am a product of the Arts. I enjoyed life as a musician and an actor, before joining Martin Summers Fine Art, then design agency Busara and then setting up Jalloro.
My whole life has been spent surrounded by the best of the Arts and I simply cannot fathom why anyone, government, institution or individual would want to cut funding or reduce budgets given the phenomenal success that this nation continues to enjoy all over the globe.
I want to ensure that London and the UK remains a worldwide centre of excellence for the “Arts”. More.
